ISRO Launches 36 New Satellites for OneWeb’s Network

NewSpace India Limited (NSIL), commercial arm of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has launched 36 satellites for OneWeb Network Access Associated Limited. ISRO’s LVM-3 (Launch Vehicle Mark-3) was used to launch these satellites on 26th March 2023 from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.

These 36 satellites, which had a collective weight of 5,805 Kg, were launched in 9 batches, each batch consisted of 4 satellites. These satellites were launched in a duration of 1 hour 14 minutes.

OneWeb is a UK-based company, which has the UK government and Bharti Enterprises as its shareholders. With this launch, the company has 618 satellites in total as part of its OneWeb global constellation, which targets to provide global satellite broadband connectivity by the end of 2023.
