Indian Metallurgist Patents Technology to Improve Steel Making

India’s noted metallurgist Mr. Rambhau Tupkary recently received a patent for technology to remove Steel from slag which will improve the process of Steel-making. According to Mr. Tupkary this new technology will help Steel manufacturers save upto Rs. 5-15 Crore per million tonne of Steel.

Steel making process is almost the same since last 70 years and Steel loss in this process is about 1-2%. But Dr. Tupkary has claimed that by using his process a large portion of this 1-2% Steel can also be saved, as in his process Steel is separated from molten slag as opposed to present process of cooling slag and then separating Steel.
