Hero MotoCorp and BPCL to Set Up 7,000 Two-Wheeler EV Charging Stations
Hero MotoCorp and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) have tied up in order to develop 7,000 electric charging stations for two-wheeler vehicles across India, as per a joint press release dated 22nd February, 2022.
In the first phase of this collaboration, nine cities will be covered, including Mumbai and Bengaluru. Each charging station will have multiple charging points with options for DC and AC charging for two-wheelers.
BPCL had announced earlier in September’ 2021 that it shall be converting 7,000 conventional outlets to include EV charging facilities. BPCL shall leverage its high station density across India to create a well connected network of electric charging stations.
Hero MotoCorp shall be contributing in developing the infrastructure for these charging stations. Also, Hero MotoCorp shall develop a mobile-app based on a cashless transaction model to enhance the user’s charging experience.
