H Shankar, Chennai Petroleum Corp.’s New MD

Mr. H. Shankar has taken charge as Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd.’s (CPCL) new Managing Director. He has been a part of the CPCL board since 1st October 2020.

Mr. Shankar completed BE in Mechanical Engineering from Hyderabad’s Osmania University in 1991. Thereafter he went on to earn an MBA (General Management) degree from The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Gujarat in 1999.

CPCL’s new MD has over 3 decades of experience in refinery operations. His major employments include those with Kuwait National Petroleum Company, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL), and CPCL. Mr. Shankar worked at Kuwait National Petroleum Company for over 3 years as Rotating Equipment Engineer. Thereafter, he worked with IOCL for almost 8 years, and held various positions before being appointed as Chief General Manager in 2020. He then joined CPCL as Director (Technical) in October, 2020.
