Ex-BPCL Chairman Mr. Arun Kumar Singh to be Appointed CMD of ONGC
Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.’s (BPCL) ex-Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), Mr. Arun Kumar Singh, has been approved by the Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) to be appointed as Oil and Natural Gas Corporation’s (ONGC) CMD. His name was proposed for the ONGC apex position by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG). Mr. Singh’s tenure as the ONGC CMD has been defined for a period of three years.
Mr. Singh holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from the National Institute of Technology, Patna. He held the position of Director (Marketing) at BPCL from October 2018 to September 2021. Thereafter, he was appointed as the Chairman and Managing Director of BPCL until his retirement in October 2022.
Mr. Singh’s appointment as the ONGC head marks the first instance of a retired person being appointed to the top position of a Maharatna Public Sector Undertaking (PSU).
