DCM Shriram, Jubilant Life Sciences to Supply Disinfectants, Hand-Sanitisers

In time of tough business environment, sagging demand for their traditional products and to support the fight against Corona, DCM Shriram and Jubilant Life Sciences have taken the initiative to provide disinfectants and hand-sanitizers to the Indian authorities and public at large.

The Indian Govt wrote a letter (No. 1(2)/2020-SP-1) to all State Chief Secretaries and Administrators of all UTs through the Department of Food & Public Distribution on 19th March 2020. The letter advised all States and UTs to take certain measures to encourage and enhance the manufacturing of Ethyl Alcohol, Extra Neutral Alcohol (ENA), Ethanol and hand-sanitizers by way of according faster licenses, permissions and actively engaging with the Industry.

Keeping with the spirit of the Government’s requirement and to be able to fulfill the exponential increase in demand both DCM Shriram and Jubilant Life Sciences have risen to the task.

DCM Shriram has repurposed its chemical plants in Kota, Rajasthan and in Bharuch, Gujarat to produce Sodium Hypochlorite, which is a disinfectant. DCM has also started producing ethyl alcohol and extra neutral alcohol in its distilleries in Hariawan and Abjapur in Uttar Pradesh. These shall be supplied to the Hand-Sanitiser Industry.

Noida based Jubiliant Life Sciences an integrated pharmaceutical and life sciences company has developed a formulation for hand-sanitizers. Jubiliant has received necessary approvals from the government and has realigned its existing manufacturing facility to produce hand-sanitizers, which are ethanol-based.
