CCI Clears Reliance Retail’s Purchase of Metro Cash and Carry India for 2,850 Cr.

Competition Commission of India (CCI) has cleared the purchase of Metro Cash and Carry India for Rs. 2,850 crore by Reliance Retail Ventures Limited (RRVL), a subsidiary of Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL). Metro Cash and Carry India is a subsidiary of a German Company, Metro AG. This information was shared in a PIB release dated 15th March 2023.

Metro Cash and Carry Outlets provide wholesale and food retail services such as groceries, electronic items, health & beauty product among others. Customers with registered businesses can visit the outlet, select items across various categories and make their purchases at one place instead of going to different sellers.

Metro Cash and Carry set foot in India in 2003 and is currently operating 31 outlets in 21 cities of India including Kolkata, Jaipur, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Delhi and others.
