Bombardier to Build Trains for Delhi-Meerut RRTS

Bombardier Transportation, the train and jet manufacturer in an announcement today informed that it has received order from National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) to build and deliver  train sets for the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) Phase 1.

Order scope includes supply of 30 regional commuter train sets of six cars each and 10 intracity mass transit train sets of three cars each, along with 15 years of rolling stock maintenance. The present order is valued around INR 2,577 crore (US$ 340 million) approximately.

According to the agreement NCRTC has option of additional 90 cars and two years of extended maintenance on additional costs. Total manufacturing will take place in India at company’s Vadodara facility in Gujarat.
