BHEL Wins ₹8,000 Crore Order From Mahagenco for 1320 MW Power Plant

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL), the largest government-owned electrical/ industrial technology company, has won a Rs. 8,000 Crore order from Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Ltd. (Mahagenco).

BHEL to Supply Boiler, Turbine-Generator for 2×660 MW Mahagenco Thermal Power Plant

In a stock exchange filing BHEL stated that it has received a letter of award from Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Ltd (Mahagenco), the state power generation utility, for supplying the BTG (boiler, turbine-generator) package for two thermal power generation units of 660 MW each of the Koradi thermal power station in Maharashtra.

The two new units will be Unit-11 and Unit-12 of the Koradi power plant located in Nagpur district, Maharashtra.

The order was won through domestic competitive bidding conducted by Mahagenco.

The scope of the order includes supply of equipment, erection and commissioning, along with civil works of the BTG package.

This also includes the supply of advanced high-efficiency emission control systems to meet stringent environmental standards.

The first unit (Unit-11) is scheduled for completion in 52 months, followed by Unit-12 six months thereafter i.e. in 58 months.

With this project, BHEL will contribute over 75 percent of Mahagenco’s installed coal-based capacity. It is also currently executing Mahagenco’s 660 MW Bhusawal project in the state.

BHEL roughly has 1,70,000 MW of utility power capacity installed across the country at present.
