Bajel Projects Wins Major Transmission & Distribution Orders from PGCIL

Bajel Projects Ltd. has been awarded two orders by PowerGrid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL). One of the orders is for the construction of a 765 KV transmission line in Uttar Pradesh, while the other order is for the extension of a 765 KV Mandsaur Pooling Station (PS) in Madhya Pradesh.
Bajel Projects Wins Rs 400 Cr. Order to Develop Transmission Line
PGCIL awarded the order for construction of a 765 KV transmission line on behalf of its Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), namely Vindhyachal Varanasi Transmission Limited (VVTL). This order entails the construction of 765 KV Vindhyachal Pool – Prayagraj Double Circuit (D/C) line, which is one of the highest-voltage lines. This order has been valued at over Rs. 400 crore and is supposed to be completed in 21 months from the date of award.
Construction of this transmission line is specifically for relieving congestion on the existing 765 KV Vindhyachal-Varanasi D/C line to enhance power transfer capacity between Northern and Western regions.
Sharing his views on this order, Mr. Rajesh Ganesh, MD & CEO, Bajel Projects Ltd., said,“The 765 kV Vindhyachal-Prayagraj line is a critical piece of the national grid puzzle, and our role in strengthening the NR-WR corridor speaks to our leadership in the high-voltage EPC domain”.
Bajel Projects Wins Rs. 100-200 Cr. Order for Bay Extension Works in MP
As for the other order, PGCIL awarded it on behalf of its SPV, namely, Mandsaur I RE Transmission Limited. This order has been valued between Rs. 100 crore and Rs. 200 crore with a completion period of 18 to 30 months from the date of award. This order pertains to bay extension works at the existing 765/400/220 KV Mandsaur Pooling Station (PS) in Madhya Pradesh.
Supporting India’s Energy Transition Goals
Further, the Mandsaur Pooling Station project falls under “Augmentation of Transformation Capacity and Implementation of line bays at Mandsaur for RE interconnection”. This project will increase the Mandsaur Substation’s transformation capacity for Renewable Energy (RE) interconnection. This project is a critical component to realize India’s 500GW renewable energy target by 2030.
Commenting on this development, Mr. Rajesh Ganesh said, “The government has prioritized infrastructure-led growth through significant capex outlays, and as India scales its digital and renewable energy footprint, the demand for resilient, high-voltage substations like Mandsaur is paramount.”
