GMR Power Secures Smart Meter Project in Uttar Pradesh under RDSS

GMR Smart Electricity Distribution Pvt. Ltd. (GSEDPL) has secured an Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) project from two distribution companies (DISCOMS), namely, Purvanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd. (PVVNL) and Dakshinanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd. (DVVNL).

The company has secured DVVNL contract at a development cost of Rs. 2,469.71 crore. These projects will be executed on Design, Build, Finance, Own, Operate, and Transfer (DBFOOT) basis under Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS).

Scope of work in this project includes supplying, installing, and commissioning of 50.17 lakh smart meters in areas under PVVNL and 25.52 lakh smart meters in areas under DVVNL. PVVNL will install these meters in Varanasi, Prayagraj, Azamgarh, and Mirzapur zones, whereas DVVNL will be installing these smart meters in Agra and Aligarh.

A completion period of 27 months has been specified for this contract, with an Operation and maintenance (O&M) period of 93 months (7 years and 9 months).
