Amazon to Purchase 420 MW Power from 3 Upcoming Solar Projects in Rajasthan

Amazon, the e-commerce company, will be purchasing 420 MW solar power from three upcoming solar projects in Rajasthan. The company will also set up 23 solar rooftop projects with a cumulative capacity of 4.09 MW in 14 of its ‘fulfilment centres’ or warehouses in India.

These three solar projects from which Amazon will purchase power represent the company’s first utility-scale solar endeavour in India. The first solar project of 210 MW capacity will be developed by ReNew Power, the second project of 100 MW capacity will be developed by Amp Energy India, and the third solar project of 110 MW capacity will be developed by Brookfield Renewable.

Amazon’s press release dated 21st September 2022 stated that the company has 57 renewable projects in the Asia-Pacific region.

Adam Selipsky, CEO, Amazon Web Services said, “We are bringing new wind and solar projects online to power our offices, fulfilment centres, data centers, and stores, which collectively serve millions of customers globally, and we are on a path to reach 100% renewable energy across our entire business by 2025”.
