Afcons Infrastructure and G R Infraprojects Ltd. (GRIL) have emerged as Lowest (L1) bidders for three packages of Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation’s (MSRDC) Pune Ring Road project.

Afcons Infrastructure has emerged as L1 bidder for two packages of the Pune Ring Road, namely package E5 with a bid of Rs. 2,718.50 crore and package E7 with a bid of Rs. 2,068.70 crore. Scope of work in Package E5 involves the construction of a 9.57 Km-long section of the Pune Ring Road connecting Valati in Taluka Haveli to Sonori in Taluka Purandar. Package E7 entails construction of a 6.24 Km-long road section from Garade in Taluka Purandar to Shiware in Taluka Bhor.

G R Infraprojects Ltd. is the L1 bidder with a bid of Rs. 1,947 crore for executing construction work on Package E6 of the Pune Ring Road project. Package E6 comprises construction of a 16 Km-long section of Pune Ring Road connecting Sonori to Garade, both in Taluka Purandar

These packages are expected to be executed in a period of 36 months.

MSRDC targets countering Pune’s traffic congestion problem with the Pune Ring Road project. To be executed in 12 packages, the total length of the Pune Ring Road will be about 136.80 Km, and it will enable traffic speeds of upto 120 Kmph. After completion, which has been anticipated by September 2027, this project will help with traffic congestion and also enhance connectivity in the talukas (sub-divisions) of Khed, Haveli, Purandar, Bhor, Mulshi and Maval. TomTom N.V., a Dutch Maps and Location Technology company, released its annual traffic index report for 2024, which ranked Pune as the 3rd most congested city in the world. Rapid industrialisation of the city in recent years has resulted in disproportionate pressure on Pune’s intra and inter city transport routes
