Adani Strikes First Coal at its Australian Carmichael Mine

Bravus, the Australian mining subsidiary of Adani Group, has struck Coal at the Carmichael mine in Queensland, Australia on 24th June 2021. It was also the birthday of Adani Group Chairman Mr. Gautam Adani and he, in a tweet, termed this achievement as “Couldn’t be a better birthday gift“.

Since it procured a lease for these mines in 2010, it hasn’t been an easy run for Adani Group to start mining at Carmichael as the company faced serious protests from environmentalists and locals, who considered it as a serious threat to the environment.

Finally, the company received all the approvals in 2019 and started construction. The mine is expected to start export of Coal by end of 2021. Bravus CEO, David Boshoff on 24th June 2021 informed that the company had already secured customers for the 10 million tonnes per annum (expected capacity) of Coal produced at the Carmichael Mine.
