Adani Power Ltd. (APL) has recenlty incorporated a subsidiary, namely, Adani Atomic Energy Ltd. (AAEL). The said entity was incorporated on 11th February 2026 marking Adani Power’s formal entry into the Nuclear Energy sector. Adani Power holds 100% of AAEL’s shareholding.

Adani’s Incorporation of a new entity comes after Sustainable Harnessing and Advancement of Nuclear Energy for Transforming India (SHANTI) bill was passed in december 2025. This bill allows private companies to operate nuclear power plants in India to aid the nation’s energy transition goals.

India’s ‘Nuclear Energy Mission’ targets 22.38 GW by 2032 and 100 GW by 2047. Currently, India has a nuclear capacity of 8.7 Gigawatts across 24 reactors which constitutes to around 3% of the nation’s total energy generation. India has taken steps to achieve the said targets, which can be seen in its initiative to transition aging thermal plants into nuclear power plants using Small Modular Reactors (SMRs).
