ABB India Launches ACS380-E Machinery Drive for Industrial Automation

ABB India has launched ACS380-E drive, a new addition to its drive portfolio, for industrial machinery applications. This drive was introduced at ENGIMACH 2025 (Industrial Automation, Manufacturing Technology & Engineering expo in India), held in Gandhinagar from 3rd December to 7th December, 2025.
In India, ACS380-E machinery drive is available in ratings of up to 22 KW at 400 V. However, the company did not specify the manufacturing location for the drive. ABB operates various manufacturing facilities in India, notably in Peenya and Nelamangala (Bengaluru), Faridabad, and Nashik. In November 2025, the company inaugurated a new production line of energy-efficient drives at its factory in Peenya.
ABB’s Drive to Support Automation-Centric Industrial Machinery
ABB’s ACS380-E drive, designed for automation-centric machine building, is targeted to simplify machine integration and is future-proofed for industrial automation. The drive will cater to industrial machinery across various sectors such as textiles, cable and wire manufacturing, plastics, intralogistics, and other related industries.
Commenting on this product development, Mr. AR Madhusudan, President and Local Division Manager, Drive Products, ABB India, said, “Our customers across diverse industries will be well-equipped to build high-performance machines with the futureproof ACS380-E drive with robust cybersecurity for maximum uptime and meeting regulatory demands of today and the future”.
Technical Specification of ABB’s ACS380-E Drive
The aforementioned ACS380-E machinery drive covers a power range from 0.25 KW to 22 KW and supports three-phase mains connections from 380 V to 480 V. The drive is compatible with multiple motor types, including AC induction motors, permanent magnet motors, and synchronous reluctance motors (SynRM). The drive supports both scalar and vector control methods.
The switching frequency of the drive can be configured between 1 kHz and 12 kHz, with a default setting of 4 kHz. For connectivity, the ACS380-E is equipped with two 100 Mbps Ethernet ports, enabling flexible system integration. The drive is classified as IE2, which is a Energy Efficiency class for electric motors, and complies with Ecodesign regulation (EU) 2019/1781.
Drive Product Portfolio of ABB: LV, MV, and DC Drives
Apart from the aforementioned ACS380-E drive, the company offers a wide range of drives, including Low Voltage (LV) drives, Medium Voltage (MV) drives, and Direct Current (DC) drives. The company’s LV drives range from 0.18 KW to 5,600 KW, while the MV drives range from 200 KW to over 150 MW. Furthermore, ABB India’s DC drive range starts from 9 KW, extending up to 18 MW.
