Sterlite Technologies Approves Rs. 3000 Cr for Capacity Expansion
Sterlite Technologies Ltd. (STL), a manufacturer of Optical Fibre Cables (OFCs), has outlined a Capital Expenditure (CapEx) of Rs. 3,000 crore for capacity expansion. The company will invest Rs. 1,000 crore annually over the next three fiscal years.
Sterlite’s management said that this investment will increase the company’s preform fiber and OFC capacities by 50%, on top of the existing baseline. The expansion will be funded through internal accruals and/or debt.
This expansion is expected to be carried out by the end of FY29.
Sterlite cited growing demand for OFCs and connectivity business as the reason behind this decision. During the earnings call, Mr. Ajay Jhanjhari, Group Chief Financial Officer, Sterlite Technologies, said, “This investment will strengthen the foundation of our business, while giving STL the capacity to participate in the next wave of optical demand across telecom, AI data centers, and DCI.”
