Q1 FY27 Segmental Performance of Finolex Cables

Electrical Cables: Revenue from Electrical Cables segment of the company grew by 46.59% to Rs. 1,767.45 crore during Q1 FY27 from Rs. 1,205.71 crore in Q1 of FY26. According to Mr. Sachin Naik, CFO of Finolex Cables, the growth in this segment was driven by healthy performance in auto cables, solar cables and agricultural cables, which are part of the Electrical Cables segment.
Communication Cables: Finolex Cables generated a revenue of Rs. 176.47 crore from its Communication Cables segment during Q1 of FY27. This reflects a YoY increase of 62.14% from the company’s Rs. 108.84 crore revenue from this segment reported for Q1 of FY26.
The steep growth in Communication Cables’ revenue was the result of Finolex Cables’ new preform plant at Urse, Pune being commissioned. Preform is the primary raw material used to produce optical fibre. Further, the increase in revenue was also supported by a global surge in demand for optical fibre, driven by the growing adoption of AI applications and the expansion of data centres.
Copper Rods: The company’s Copper Rods segment gathered revenue of Rs. 8.01 crore in Q1 FY27, a steep drop of 98.01% YoY from Rs. 403.42 crore reported in Q1 FY26. This steep decline in the company’s segmental revenue was due to the limited availability of LPG and PNG amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Consequently, the company did not operate its copper rod plant located in Ponda, Goa, during Q1 FY27.
Others: Finolex Cables’ Other segments comprise switchgear, conduit pipes, and Fast Moving Electrical Goods (FMEG). The segmental revenue remained flat at Rs. 61.22 crore in Q1 FY27 against 62.19 Cr. for Q1 FY26.
