Enviro Infra Wins Rs. 257 Cr. Orders for Sewage Treatment Plants in UP
Enviro Infra Engineers Limited (EIEL), a company engaged in construction of wastewater treatment plants, has secured two EPC contracts collectively valued at Rs. 256.92 crore from Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam (Rural). The contracts involve development of two Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) under the Namami Gange Programme.
Enviro Infra to Develop STPs in Chandauli & Varanasi
The first contract, valued at Rs. 126.78 crore, is for the development of a 45 Million Litres per Day (MLD) sewage treatment plant (STP) along with associated infrastructure at Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Nagar in Chandauli district, Uttar Pradesh. As per the contract, Enviro Infra will also undertake the Operation & Maintenance (O&M) services of the project for a period of 15 years.
The other contract is for Lohta STP, with a 60 MLD capacity. The project involves constructing infrastructure to tap 13 major drains to clean the Varuna River, with a 15-year operation and maintenance agreement. This project is valued at 130.14 Cr., and will be executed through the SPV, Varanasi Lohta STP Private Limited.
Both projects will be executed under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM).
*Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) refers to a mode of Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) wherein the government and the private player share the project expenses in a 40:60 ratio respectively. After the private player develops the project, it is handed over to the government. The government pays a fixed annuity to the private player for a certain amount of time as defined in the contract.
STP Projects will Integrate Biogas and Solar Power Systems
Both sewage treatment plants will incorporate biogas-based power generation and solar energy systems to improve operational sustainability.
Under the projects, sludge generated during the sewage treatment process will be converted into biogas, which will be used to fuel gas generators for electricity generation. In addition, solar panels will be installed to produce renewable energy.
The integration of biogas and solar power is expected to reduce operating costs, lower carbon emissions, enhance sustainability, and improve the long-term energy resilience of the treatment plants throughout their operational lifecycle.
