Kalpataru – HG Infra JV L1 Bidder for Rs. 1,424 Cr. Thane Metro Civil Contract

Kalpataru Projects International Ltd. – HG Infra Engineering joint venture (JV) has been declared as Lowest (L1) bidder for the first civil construction contract (Package C-01) of the Thane Metro project. Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd’s (MahaMetro) tender specified a construction cost of Rs. 1,424 crore for this project, against which the JV has bid Rs. 1,415 crore.

Scope of work in this project includes design and construction of a 20.527 Km-long elevated metro viaduct for Thane Metro. This viaduct will cover the elevated stretch from Raila Devi to Balkum Naka. Construction of the underground ramp connecting Raila Devi to the underground section of Thane Metro is also under the scope of work. Apart from this, this package includes the construction of a depot approach viaduct, and three special spans which will connect Thane Metro to Mumbai Metro‘s lines 4 and 5. However, construction of metro stations en route will be carried out under separate contracts for which tender notices are yet to be published.

Maha-Metro’s tender specified a completion period of 30 months for this project.

The second-lowest bidder for this project was GR Infraprojects (GRIL) with a bid of Rs. 1,657.85 crore.

Thane Metro is officially known as Thane Integral Ring Metro Project and will consist of 22 stations, Out of which 20 will be elevated and the remaining 2 will be underground. The entire metro line will be 29-Km long and is expected to be fully operational by 2029.
