REI Expo 2025: Focus on Solar Equipment & BESS

Renewable Energy India Expo (REI Expo) 2025 was held at India Expo Centre, Greater Noida, from 22nd to 24th October 2025. Marking its 18th edition, the event witnessed a footfall of over 58,000 visitors and participation from around 700 exhibitors, making it one of Asia’s leading clean energy gatherings.

REI Expo 2025 was co-located with the 3rd edition of The Battery Show, which featured over 350 exhibitors, highlighting India’s growing focus on energy storage technologies.

Solar Module Manufacturers Take Centre Stage

This year’s edition of the REI Expo placed a major focus on solar module manufacturers. As observed by CableCommunity, majority of stalls were dedicated to solar module and solar cell manufacturing companies.

Insolation Energy Limited (INA Solar), a Rajasthan-based solar modules and cells manufacturer, unveiled its expansion roadmap during the event. The company currently operates with a solar module manufacturing capacity of 5.5 GW, which it plans to increase to 7 GW by FY27.

This capacity augmentation is part of a backward and forward integration strategy, under which new manufacturing facilities are being established in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. This includes entering into solar cell manufacturing with development of a 4.5 GW solar cell plant in Madhya Pradesh, which is expected to be commissioned in the first half of FY27. As for forward integration, the company will set up a 54,000 MTPA aluminum frame manufacturing facility in Jaipur by FY27.

Gautam Solar Launches 635/640 Wp G12 R TOPCon Solar Modules at REI

Gautam Solar launched its 635 and 640 Wp G12 R TOPCon solar modules at REI Expo 2025. These modules offer an efficiency of 23.69%, and feature 132 rectangular solar cells. These modules, being the same size as a standard G12 TOPCon module, offer 5% higher power output.

As per Mr. Gautam Mohanka, Director, Gautam Solar, launch of these G12 R TOPCon modules is significant as higher power density translates to lesser land requirement and lower Balance of System (BoS) costs.

Moreover, Gautam Solar is targeting to achieve 5 GWp solar module manufacturing capacity by the end of 2025, up from its current 4 GW.

As part of its backward integration efforts, Gautam Solar is investing Rs. 4,000 crore to develop a 5 GW solar cell manufacturing plant in Madhya Pradesh, projected to be fully operational by 2029.

ReNew Energy Expands Solar Cell Capacity at Dholera, Gujarat

ReNew Energy, a Gurgaon-based renewable energy firm, exhibited its 610 Wp and 640 Wp TopCon Bifacial solar modules at the event. The company currently has a total of 2.5 GW solar cell, and 6.4 GW solar module manufacturing capacity.

ReNew is scaling up its TOPCon solar cell production from 2.5 GW to 6.5 GW at Dholera, Gujarat. Besides this, ReNew operates a 2.4 GW solar module manufacturing facility in Dholera, and a 4 GW module plant in Jaipur.

Patanjali Renewable Energy Showcases Solar Inverters & BESS

Patanjali Renewable Energy Pvt. Ltd. showcased its product portfolio, comprising solar panels (75 Wp–700 Wp), Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), hybrid inverters (1 KW–50 KW), and on-grid inverters.

Participating for the second time at REI Expo (after its debut in 2023), the company representatives told CableCommunity that it entered into Renewable Energy equipment manufacturing with solar modules in 2018. The company currently operates two manufacturing plants, one in Noida, where it manufactures solar inverters, and another in Hyderabad, dedicated to BESS production. The company representatives also shared that its entry into BESS manufacturing is quite recent, and that Patanjali started BESS manufacturing

The firm targets to achieve 7 GW of BESS capacity by 2027. The company’s officials also shared that at present, Patanjali Renewable Energy does not market retail products and primarily supplies through tenders.

Waaree Launches 350 KW String Inverter; Announces 20 GW BESS Plant

Waaree Group, one of India’s largest solar panel manufacturers, launched its 350 KW string inverter at the expo. This inverter is designed for utility-scale projects, offering six MPPTs supporting up to 30 module strings, an MPPT voltage range of 480–1,500 V, and a peak input voltage of 1,500 V.

Speaking with CableCommunity, Mr. Nilesh Malani, CMO of Waaree Group, shared that the company is developing a 20 GW Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) plant at Rola, Gujarat, with an investment of Rs. 8,000 crore. The plant is expected to be commissioned within 1.5 years.

The company also showcased its transformers vertical, branded as Waaree Transpower. Waaree recently diversified into transformers manufacturing with the acquisition of 64% share in Kotsons Pvt. Ltd. during September 2025 for Rs. 192 crore. While Kotsons was engaged in manufacturing of smaller distribution transformers, Waaree’s representatives shared that the company plans to expand its transformer range.

Premier Energies Unveils ‘Mission 2028’

Premier Energies, an integrated solar cell and module manufacturer, unveiled its Mission 2028 initiative at the event. The plan includes establishing a 12 GWh Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) plant in Pune, Maharashtra in two phases. The first 6 GWh phase will be commissioned by June 2026, and the remaining 6 GWh by March 2027.

Additionally, Premier Energies will set up a 3 GW string inverter manufacturing line expected to be operational by FY27. Under Mission 2028, the company also plans to achieve 16.5 GVA transformer manufacturing capacity.

The company recently acquired a 51% stake in Transcon Ind Limited for Rs. 500.3 crore and is entering aluminum frame manufacturing through Premier-Green Aluminium Pvt. Ltd., a joint venture with Nuevosol Energy.

The company also shared that a 36,000 MTPA aluminum frame facility is being built in Telangana with an investment of Rs. 250 crore, expected to begin commercial operations in FY27.

Reliance New Energy Advances Toward Net Zero 2035 Goal

Reliance New Energy, the clean energy arm of Reliance Industries, mentioned its goal of achieving net zero by 2035. The company targets 3 MMTPA of Green Hydrogen production capacity as part of its Renewable Energy Complex in Jamnagar, Gujarat, projected to be one of the world’s largest such complexes.

In conversation with CableCommunity, Mr. Himanshu Das, Project Manager at Reliance New Energy, revealed that electrolyser production at the Jamnagar complex is expected to begin by the end of 2026, followed by Green Hydrogen production in 2027. The company representatives highlighted that a share of the generated Green Hydrogen will be used for RIL’s captive requirement in refineries.

Next Edition of REI Expo Announced for 2026

The 19th edition of the Renewable Energy India Expo will be held on 22nd, 23rd, and 24th October 2026 at the India Expo Mart, Greater Noida. It is expected to be Asia’s largest clean energy event, continuing to foster collaboration and innovation in India’s Renewable Energy landscape.
