Adani Power Signs Power Supply Agreement for 2,400 MW in Bihar

Adani Power Limited has signed a 25-year power supply agreement with Bihar State Power Generation Company Ltd. (BSPGCL) for supplying 2,400 MW of power from its upcoming thermal power plant at Pirpainti in Bhagalpur district of Bihar. BSPGCL has signed this agreement with Adani Power on behalf of North Bihar Power Distribution Company Ltd. (NBPDCL) and South Bihar Power Distribution Company Ltd. (SBPDCL).

Adani Power received the Letter of Intent (LoI) for the development of this thermal power plant in August 2025 at an estimated cost of USD 3 billion (about Rs. 26,482 crore).

Power from Adani’s greenfield Pirpainti thermal power plant will be supplied to NBPDCL and SBPDCL at a tariff rate of Rs. 6.075 per KWh. The power plant will have three thermal power units of 800 MW each and will be developed on Design, Build, Finance, Own, and Operate (DBFOO) basis. This thermal power plant has a development period of 60 months (5 years).

According to a recent research report by Morgan Stanley, Adani Power has established its position as India’s largest private coal-based independent power producer, with a portfolio of 18,150 MW across 12 plants in eight states. Recently in September 2025, Adani Power also secured a 1,600 MW power supply order from MP Power Management Company Limited (MPPMCL) from its upcoming TPP in Anuppur.
