Jupiter Wagons’ Subsidiary Acquires Log9’s Railway & Electric Truck Battery Divisions
Jupiter Electric Mobility (JEM), a subsidiary of Jupiter Wagons Ltd. (JWL), has acquired the Railway and Electric Truck Battery divisions of Bengaluru-based Log9 Materials. This acquisition also includes Log9’s battery manufacturing plant in Devanahalli, Bengaluru.
This acquisition strengthens Jupiter Electric Mobility’s capacity to improve their electric truck production by integrating battery manufacturing into its supply chain. Mr. Vivek Lohia, Managing Director of Jupiter Wagons, said that by integrating Log9’s technology and capabilities into their production process and offerings will enable JEM to further its capabilities in electric mobility and railways.
For Jupiter Wagons, acquiring Log9’s railway battery technology marks a major expansion of its railway product portfolio. In June 2024, JEM secured an order to supply 36 Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteries for nine Vande Bharat trains in collaboration with Siemens. Also, earlier in March 2024, Jupiter Wagons had received an order worth Rs. 956.87 crore from Indian Railways for supplying goods transportation wagons.
Jupiter Wagons reported a standalone revenue of Rs. 973.63 Cr. during Q2 of FY-25. Mr. Vivek Lohia said, “This quarter, we made a strategic decision to strengthen our foothold in the electric truck and railway battery sectors through the acquisition of Log9’s battery assets by our wholly-owned subsidiary Jupiter Electric Mobility”.
