Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers to build Research Ship for DRDO Lab

Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd. (GRSE) has received a Letter of Intent (LoI) from Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory (NPOL) under DRDO. This information was shared by GRSE in its stock filing dated 18th October 2024.

This project is estimated to cost around Rs. 491 crore and involves the design and development of an Acoustic Research Ship (ARS). GRSE will handle all aspects of the project, including design, construction, and integration of different equipment pertaining to the ARS. Thereafter, Garden Research Shipbuilders & Engineers will also be responsible for testing, commissioning, and delivery of the vessel.

According to the company’s filing, the ship is expected to be delivered within 36 months following the contract’s signing. However, GRSE stated in its stock filing that the contract is under finalization and is yet to be signed.

Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers specializes in constructing warships and other vessels for the Indian Navy and Coast Guard. Additionally, the company has expanded its operations into engineering sector, offering prefabricated steel bridges, various deck machinery, assembly services, and maintenance and overhaul of marine diesel engines.
