Vertiv Launches ‘Trinergy’ UPS & ‘PowerNexus’ Solution for Data Centres

Vertiv has introduced ‘Trinergy’ UPS and ‘PowerNexus’ integration solution for deployment in data centres. These solutions have been launched keeping in mind heavy-computing load and Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based applications which demand high power supply with minimal downtime.

Vertiv ‘Trinergy’ Exceeds Tier 4 Data Centre Standard, Offers Modular Flexibility

‘Trinergy’ exceeds tier 4 data centre* standard, providing 99.9999998% uptime, which translates to a maximum of 30 seconds of downtime in a decade.

*Tier 4 data centres, as per New York-based Uptime Institute’s classification, guarantee a 99.9994% uptime. The maximum annual downtime for such data centers is 26.3 minutes.

Vertiv’s Trinergy UPS comes in three variants rated 1.5 MW, 2 MW and 2.5 MW at 400 KV respectively. Trinergy offers ‘multi-module power line up in a single chassis’ with 500 KVA cores. These cores can be controlled independently, and each core comprises inverter, rectifier, and charger along with controls. This feature adds scalability to the Trinergy UPS, thereby making it suitable for applications ranging ‘from room-based setups to pre-fabricated deployments’. Further, Trinergy can be integrated with a range of energy backup options such as Li-ion batteries and Nickel-Zinc batteries.

Trinergy can function in three UPS operating modes namely online (Voltage and Frequency Independent), standby (Voltage and Frequency Dependent), and active standby (ECO) modes. Vertiv’s Trinergy has a 200 KAIC rating, meaning that the maximum fault current that can be safely allowed through the UPS is 200 KA. Moreover, Trinergy also enables hot serviceability, meaning that it can be serviced while it is functioning, thereby providing uninterrupted power support during maintenance.

Vertiv PowerNexus – Space-Compact UPS-Switchgear Integration Solution for Data Centres

Vertiv has also launched PowerNexus, an integration solution for data centres. This solution couples Vertiv Trinergy UPS with Vertiv PowerSwitchgear, connecting them via internal busbars. As per the company’s website, “Such integration reduces equipment footprint, cabling materials, and installation labor costs”. The company claims that this is especially beneficial in the case of large-scale clients and co-located clients which use power modules and power skids.

PowerNexus can be deployed on-site, on skids, or in enclosures as per requirement.

Vertiv’s PowerNexus is CE and Underwriter Laboratories (UL) certified, and has an IP20 rating for UPS and an IP31 for switchboards (SWB). The system can function at nominal voltages of 380, 400 and 480 V, and can withstand 100 KA of current for 1 second.

About Vertiv: Vertiv offers power and integration solution for data centres. Its products include liquid cooling solutions, power management solutions, thermal management solutions, prefabricated modular solutions.
