Vedanta to Set Up 10K Crore Copper Smelter Plant in India
Vedanta Resources subsidiary Vedanta Ltd. has called for Expression of Interest (EoI) from state governments for a 500 KTPA (Kilo Tonnes Per Annum) smelter plant that will require around 1,000 acres of land. As per the EoI document, the project has an investment potential of about Rs 10,000 crore that will provide direct and indirect employment to around 10,000 people and will contribute around Rs 3,000 crore to the exchequer (State where plant will be located) annually.
Vedanta said that it would prefer coastal states in proximity of a port along with logistics connectivity by rail and road to handle material movement, both in-bound and out-bound.
