Vedanta Reports Record High Q4 & Annual Aluminium Production in FY-25

Vedanta Limited reported its highest-ever quarterly and annual production of Aluminium during Q4 of FY-25 and entire FY-25 respectively.

The company’s aluminum production grew to 603 Kilo Tonne (KT) in Q4 of FY-25 as compared to 598 KT during Q4 of FY-24. For entire FY-25, the company produced 2.42 Million Metric Tonne (MMT) of Aluminium, 2% higher than Vedanta’s FY-24 production of 2.37 MMT.

The company’s Alumina production was also up on account of its Lanjigarh refinery. Comparing Q4 outputs during FY-25 and FY-24, Vedanta’s Alumina output from Lanjigarh was 11% up. “Alumina production was lower during the quarter due to unplanned supply chain issues, which got normalised by the quarter end”, mentioned Vedanta’s official production release. Considering Alumina production for the entire year, Lanjigarh’s FY-25 output was 9% higher than its FY-24 output. This increase in Alumina production has been attributed to the recent capacity expansion at Lanjigarh refinery from 2 MMT Per Annum (MMTPA) to 3.5 MMTPA, which was completed in March 2024.

Vedanta is India’s largest Aluminium producer, and commands approximately 46% of the country’s Aluminium market. The company’s importance in the Indian Aluminium sector can be realised from the fact that the country’s total Aluminium production sits at around 4.1 MMT, more than half of which is made up by Vedanta. Interestingly, India is globally the second-largest producer of Aluminium, bested only by China.
