Universal Cables Q2 FY-25 PAT Grows 57% YoY. Expansion Planned

Universal Cables Limited [NSE: UNIVCABLES, BOM: 504212], also known as Unistar, and a part of the MP Birla Group, has announced its financial results for Q2 of FY-25.

During Q2 of FY-25, Universal Cables reported a standalone revenue of Rs. 638.12 crore and a Profit After Tax (PAT) of Rs. 18.90 crore.

On a Year-over-Year (YoY) basis, Universal Cables’ top-line grew by 29.07% to Rs. 638.12 crore during Q2 of FY-25 from Rs. 494.39 crore in Q2 of FY-24. PAT of the company also showed a significant increase of 56.91% to Rs. 18.28 crore during Q2 of FY-25 from Rs. 11.65 crore during second quarter of FY-24.

Correspondingly, Earnings Per share (EPS) of the company also increased Rs. 5.27 in Q2 of FY-25 against Rs. 3.36 during Q2 of FY-24.

QoQ Results Company of Universal Cables: Q2 FY-25 vs. Q1 FY-25

On a Quarter-over-Quarter (QoQ) basis, Universal Cables’ revenue jumped by 30.57% from Rs. 488.70 crore reported for Q1 of FY-25. Universal Cables’ PAT exhibited remarkable growth QoQ, with Q2 profit rocketing to 3.27 times of the company’s Q1 PAT in FY-25, which stood at Rs. 5.59 crore.

Universal Cables’ Expansion Plans for FY-26

In its annual report for FY-24, Universal Cables mentioned plans to expand its manufacturing capacity for Low Voltage, Medium Voltage, and High Voltage / Extra High Voltage power cables. The expansion will occur in phases at the company’s manufacturing plants located in Satna and Goa. A capital expenditure (CapEx) of Rs. 277 crore has been allocated for this project.

The company expects to complete commissioning of this expansion by the fourth quarter of FY-26.

Universal Cables further mentioned that the proposed expansion plan would enable a flexible manufacturing setup, allowing the company to switch production between HV/EHV and MV XLPE Insulated Power Cables, which are key products, during times when the demand is asymmetric in nature.
