Titagarh Rail Systems Acquires Land to Expand Production Capacity
Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd has leased 40 acres of land from the West Bengal government for Rs. 126.63 crore for a period of 99 years. This land is located in the mouzas of Kotrung and Bhadrakali, and is adjacent to the company’s existing 34-acre manufacturing facility in Uttarpara, West Bengal.
According to the company’s stock exchange filing dated 12th July 2025, the additional land will be used to expand production infrastructure and create dedicated areas for forming, testing, and commissioning of metro coaches and Vande Bharat trains. As per the company, this land acquisition will also help Titagarh Rail System to conduct dynamic and running tests of coaches before they are delivered to respective clients. For this purpose, a test track will also be developed by Titagarh Rail Systems.
This expansion is a part of Titagarh’s plan to increase its production capacity from 300 coaches per year to approximately 850 coaches every year by FY 2027-28.
Recently, in early July 2025, Titagarh Rail Systems had secured the order to supply 12 trainsets for Pune Metro Phase 2 project.
