Thales UK and Bharat Dynamics Sign MOU for Air Defense system

Thales U.K., subsidiary of French defense multinational – Thales group, signed an agreement with Government of India run Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) to work in partnership on an Air Defense System STARStreak Missile System. This would be done with support of the Indian and British Governments.

In a press statement Thales said “Through the agreement, BDL will become a part of the STARStreak Missile System’s global supply chain, providing the opportunity for export of Indian manufactured components to this system’s existing and future customers, including the UK Armed Forces”. Also, according to the agreement there will be transfer of technology between BDL and Thales which will enable BDL to provide STARStreak Missile Air Defense System to the Indian Armed Forces with a minimum of 60 per cent indigenous content along with domestic designing and development.
