Tender Out for 375 MW/1,500 MWh Battery Energy Storage Systems in UP
Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) has initiated a Request for Selection (RfS) to develop a total of 375 MW/1500 MWh standalone Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) within the state. The deadline for submitting bids in response to this tender is 13th October 2025.
UPPCL’s tender specifies that a bidder must bid for developing a minimum of 250 MWh of BESS capacity. BESS projects will be developed on a Build-Own-Operate (BOO) basis under this tender, and are required to be connected directly to the state transmission network. The to-be-developed BESS installations must be charged by power generated from Renewable Energy (RE) sources, and must be capable of discharging energy for up to four consecutive hours in time of need. Selected bidders can avail Viability Gap Funding (VGF) for setting up their BESS projects through the Power System Development Fund (PSDF).
The Battery Energy Discharge Purchase Agreement (BEDPA) for these projects will be signed between the developers and UPPCL within 30 days of receiving the Letter of Award (LoA). UPPCL shall also be responsible for offtaking 100% of the energy stored in these BESS installations.
