Telangana Requests Centre Rs. 2,850 Crore for Sewage Treatment Projects Under AMRUT 2.0

Telangana Government has requested Rs. 2,850 crore from the Centre under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT 2.0). This amount will fund one-third of the amount required for sewage treatment projects in Hyderabad Urban Agglomeration (HUA) area. The state government will bear remaining two-thirds cost of these projects.

The total cost for these projects is Rs. 8,648.54 crore and a Comprehensive Sewerage Master Plan (CSMP) has been prepared to implement them. Under this CSMP, 62 Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) will be constructed. Lateral, branch and trunk sewer lines will also be laid to collect sewage and feed it to STPs.

First phase of this CSMP involves the construction of 31 STPs of 120 Million Litres per Day (MLD) capacity each, with a cost of Rs. 3,866.21 crore. Tenders for work under CSMP’s Phase – I have already been floated by the Telangana Government.
