Tata Steel to Acquire 50.01% Equity in Thriveni Pellets for Rs. 636 Cr.
Tata Steel Ltd. has recently shared that the company will acquire a 50.01% equity stake in Thriveni Pellets Pvt. Ltd. (TPPL) for Rs. 636 crore. This information was shared by Tata Steel via a press release dated 10th December, 2025.
Thriveni Pellets holds a 100% stake in Brahmani River Pellet Limited (BRPL), which operates a 4 Million Metric Tonnes Per Annum (MMTPA) pellet plant at Jajpur in Odisha. The acquisition targets to secure this pellet making facility and secure a supply of iron pellets for Tata Steel.
As per the press release, Tata Steel’s Board of Directors approved this acquisition in a meeting held on 10th December, 2025. Tata Steel has specified cash as the mode of transaction for this acquisition. The acquisition is expected to be completed within 3 to 4 months.
Before the transaction, Thriveni Pellets’ 50.01% equity stake was held by Thriveni Earthmovers Pvt. Ltd., while the remaining 49.99% belonged to Lloyds Metals & Energy Ltd. (LMEL). Post this transaction, the 50.01% stake will go over to Tata Steel, and the remaining 49.99% will still be held by Lloyds Metals 7 Energy.
