Southern Petrochemical Industries to Invest 1,900 Cr. in Tamil Nadu Over 2 Years

Southern Petrochemical Industries Corporation (SPIC) Limited will be investing Rs. 1,900 crore in Tamil Nadu over a period of next 2 years. The company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tamil Nadu government for these investments.

As per the investment plan, SPIC Ltd. will invest a total of Rs. 970 crore for brownfield expansion at its existing Urea plant and development of a 150 Metric Tonne Per Day (MTPD) Green Ammonia Plant.

Apart from this, Greenstar Fertilizers Limited, a sister company of SPIC Ltd. will also invest collectively Rs. 640 crore in a Water-Soluble Fertilizer (WSF) mixing plant, a 2500 MTPA Sulphuric Acid plant, and the refurbishment of DAP I and II plants located in Thoothukudi.

Further, SPIC’s subsidiary Tuticorin Alkali Chemicals and Fertilisers Ltd. will establish a soda ash and ammonium chloride facility in Tuticorin with an estimated investment of Rs. 290 crore.
