Solar Power in India to match Coal-Fired Power by 2040: IEA
The International Energy Agency (IEA) in a report said that Solar generated power in India could be equal to power generated through Coal-Fired power plants by 2040. IEA’s Report also mentioned that this prediction is based on falling renewable tariffs and Indian Government’s push to increase green energy usage.
Coal-fired power plants currently provide about 70% of overall power generated in India and only about 4% is produced through Solar. Many new high capacity solar power plants are coming up in India, driven by Government of India’s aim to reach 450 GW of renewable capacity by 2030.
