Socomec Launches New Manual Transfer Switch for Indian Market
Socomec India Pvt. Ltd., the electric equipment manufacturer, has launched a new series of *On-Load manual transfer switches– SIRCOVER. Socomec stated that this launch is part of its ongoing commitment to dedicated research and development on various commercial applications and critical installations in India.

SIRCOVER manual transfer switches by Socomec are being manufactured at its factory in Gurgaon, Haryana. Socomec is present in India since 1992 and started its Gurgaon manufacturing operations in 2014 with Industrial UPS.
*On-Load transfer switches don’t have time delays when the power source is changed whereas Off-load transfer switches have a certain time delay once connected to the secondary power source.
On-Load Manual Transfer Switches Requirement and Applications
Manual transfer switches are used either as a backup for Auto-transfer switches or for load transfer between two sources in case of voltage fluctuation in the primary source. Power outages could lead to major incidents and losses on critical applications like Healthcare facilities, Server rooms and Production lines. Thus manual transfer switches are indispensable as a back-up to Auto-transfer switch. They are also now fitted in most offices and residential complexes which have two power source.
Expressing his views on the launch Mr. Sushil Virmani, Managing Director, Socomec India said “The growing need for stable sources of power supply, coupled with the rapid industrialization across the globe, is the key factor driving the growth of the market… The increasing dependence of industrial, commercial as well as residential sector on electric generators for uninterrupted power supply is also augmenting the demand of these devices across various regions“.
Enhanced Termination Capacity in Socomec On-Load Manual Transfer Switches for Low Voltage Applications
SIRCOVER On-Load manual transfer switches are used for low voltage applications (220V-240V). The transfer switch has wider terminals for better clearance (up to B5 frame) which enables easy termination of Aluminium cables / Busbars.
There are 2 ranges in the series, SIRCOVER for open transition switching (I-0-II) available in 4 pole, from 63 to 3200 A. Another range is the SIRCOVER Bypass, which is combination of three interlocked load break switches with 3+6 poles for bypass applications.
