SJVN gets MNRE Approval for Developing 400 MW Solar Park
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India, has given approval to Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd. (SJVN), for developing a 400 MW Solar Park in Upper Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh.
SJVN will develop this Solar Park under Mode-8, i.e Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Power Parks, of its Solar Park Scheme. Preliminary survey and investigation for the Solar Park was carried out by HIMURJA, the nodal agency for renewable energy development in Himachal Pradesh. The process of developing and submitting a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for this Solar Park will begin shortly.
Development of this Solar Park in Kinnaur is a step towards achieving SJVN’s target for renewable energy generation capacity of 5,000 MW by 2023 and 25,000 MW by 2030.
The present total capacity of SJVN is 16,500 MW. SJVN’s renewable energy capacity will be 3,054.5 MW after addition of this 400 MW Solar Park.
