Siemens Launches SIMOCODE M-CP Industrial Motor Management System

Siemens logo

Siemens, a leading player in the factory automation segment, has introduced SIMOCODE M-CP, its newest addition to its SIMOCODE range of motor management systems.

This information was shared in Siemens’ release dated 21st October 2024. As per Siemens’ official website, SIMOCODE M-CP will be available in the market from November 2024.

SIMOCODE M-CP ‘Tailored’ for Motor Control Centres

SIMOCODE M-CP has been designed specifically for use in Motor Control Centres (MCC). MCCs are used in industrial setups to distribute power to motors, typically low-voltage motors, and to control and monitor their functioning.

Further, SIMOCODE M-CP has diagnostic functions that can issue early warnings in case of anomalies or malfunctioning of motors.

Compact Design, Flexible Installation for Spatial Optimisation

Siemens SIMOCODE M-CP features a compact design which makes it easy to install them in withdrawable units in industrial switchboards. The device can be mounted either on the front panel of the switchboard, or can be installed on a DIN rail. As per Siemens, this feature of SIMOCODE M-CP helps in ‘…optimizing space and reducing installation expense’. Moreover, the device features six digital inputs and four relay outputs.

Communication via Single Pair Ethernet

SIMOCODE M-CP uses Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) for data transmission. Siemens’ release states: “Communication in the withdrawable unit is enabled via just two wires”. Each of these wires has two cores which, according to the company, eliminate complexity in wiring without compromising connectivity requirements for switchboard operations.

Additional Functions Offered via Licence Purchases

Siemens describes SIMOCODE M-CP as being ‘future proof’ since the device can offer diverse functions that can deployed by purchasing requisite licences. This means that SIMOCODE M-CP can adapt to different use cases without the need to be replaced by specialised devices for each scenario.

Some functionalities that can be added to SIMOCODE M-CP through the purchase of licences include advanced features for Motor Current Signature Analyses (MCSA), deploying Artificial Intelligence (AI) for detecting faults in motors, combining condition monitoring with the motor management system along with voltage and current measurement modules, and more.
