SECI Awards 237 MW Electrolyser Manufacturing Capacity to Gensol-Matrix JV

Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has awarded 237 MW of electrolyser manufacturing capacity to a consortium of Gensol Engineering Ltd. and Matrix Gas & Renewables Ltd. SECI had issued a tender in March 2024, inviting bidders to manufacture electrolysers as a part of Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme defined under Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) Scheme* (Tranche-II). Gensol-Matrix JV has emerged as a successful bidder for 237 MW of electrolyser production capacity, and will be setting up an electrolyser manufacturing plant for the same.

Commenting on this development, Mr. Anmol Jaggi, Managing Director of Gensol Engineering Ltd., said “Winning this PLI capacity under the National Green Hydrogen Mission is a testament to our commitment and technical capabilities”.

Mr. Chirag Kotecha, Whole-time Director at Matrix Gas and Renewables Ltd., said, “Electrolyser manufacturing initiative is central to our strategy for large-scale decarbonization through green hydrogen, aligning with our vision of establishing India as a leader in sustainable, low-carbon energy”.

In February 2024, Gensol-Matrix consortium had been allotted 63 MW electrolyser manufacturing capacity under Tranche-I of SIGHT scheme. Therefore, the consortium has secured a total of 300 MW of electrolyser manufacturing capacity under the PLI Scheme for electrolysers till date.

*SIGHT Scheme is a part of the National Green Hydrogen Mission, which targets domestic production of electrolysers and incentivisation of Green Hydrogen production
