MRPL Signs 5-Year Gas Supply Agreement with BPCL

Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) has signed a five-year agreement with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) for the procurement of Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG).

As per the agreement, BPCL will supply 0.43 Million Metric Standard Cubic Meters Per Day (MMSCMD) of RLNG to MRPL’s facilities, sourced from BPCL’s Cochin terminal. RLNG is used for refining crude oil in place of naphtha, diesel and fuel oil. This will help in reducing feed costs, optimizing fuel and lowering overall emissions from the refinery. MRPL intends to utilise RLNG as feed for the production of hydrogen and fuel for gas turbines to generate power and steam for various furnaces.
