Premier Energies Introduces India’s First Zero Busbar Solar Cell

Premier Energies Limited has introduced a zero busbar (0BB) TOPCon solar cell. This information was shared by the company in its recent stock exchange filing. With this development, the company claims to have brought India’s first zero busbar solar cell to the market.

Zero Busbar Solar Cell Unveiled at Intersolar India 2026

The company showcased the new solar cell at Intersolar India 2026, which took place at the Helipad Ground Exhibition Centre in Gandhinagar, India, from 25th February 2026 to 27th February 2026.

Zero busbar technology marks a departure from conventional solar cell designs such as 10BB and 16BB architectures.

Commenting on the development, Mr. Sudhir Reddy, Chief Strategy Officer, Premier Energies, said, “This achievement has reinforced our leadership in next-generation solar technologies and our commitment to advancing India’s high- efficiency solar manufacturing ecosystem”.

However, the company did not disclose any further information about its new launch.

According to the company, the zero busbar design helps reduce silver consumption and lowers shading losses. It can also deliver higher power output compared with conventional designs. In addition, the 0BB structure improves mechanical flexibility and enhances resistance to micro-cracks.

Premier Energies’ Footprint in India, Manufacturing Plants Lined-Up

Premier Energies operates multiple integrated solar manufacturing facilities in Hyderabad, Telangana, with capacities for solar cells and modules. The company’s portfolio includes Mono PERC Bi-facial solar cells and G12R Monocrystalline Bifacial Topcon cells. Further, Premier Energies’ module portfolio includes P-Type Monofacial Module, P-Type Bifacial Transparent Back Sheet Module, and P-Type Bifacial Dual Glass Module.

Additionally, the company is also in the process of developing a 10 GW ingot-wafer plant in Andhra Pradesh with an investment of Rs. 5,900 crore. The phase 1 of this plant is expected to be commissioned by December 2027. Apart from this plant, Premier Energies is also setting up a 4.8 GW solar cell plant in Andhra, which is expected to be commissioned by June 2026.

Premier Energies has also forayed into transformer manufacturing and expanded its Renewable Energy (RE) portfolio by means of acquisitions.

Financial Information of Premier Energies

The company reported a revenue of Rs. 1,936.46 crore and a Profit After Tax (PAT) of Rs. 391.71 crore for the third quarter of FY26.

In addition, Premier Energies reported a total order book of approximately Rs. 13,723 crore to Rs. 14,723 crore in Q3 FY26, with 9.4 GW capacity to be delivered through FY28.
