POWERGRID Sanctions 3,546.94 Cr. for Wind & Solar Energy Transmission in Kurnool
PGCIL has approved an investment of Rs. 3,546.94 crore for the development of power transmission system for Kurnool Wind Energy Zone / Solar Energy Zone (Part A and Part B) in Andhra Pradesh. This project is expected to be complete by November 2024.
Scope of Work under Part A of Kurnool Wind / Solar Energy Transmission System Project
Scope of Work under Part A of the aforementioned project comprises development of a pooling substation in Kurnool district (Kurnool-III) with three 1,500 MVA Interconnecting Transformers (ICTs) at the 765 KV/400 KV level, and nine 500 MVA ICTs at the 400 KV/220 KV level. One bus reactor of 330 MVAr capacity for the 765 KV line, and another bus reactor of 125 MVAr capacity for the 400 KV line will also be equipped in this substation. Moreover, fifteen 220 KV line bays will be developed for interconnection with wind projects.
Laying of a 756 KV Double Circuit line about 100 Km in length between Kurnool-III Pooling Station and POWERGRID’s Kurnool (New) substation, and two associated line bays at Kurnool (New) substation is also included in the scope of work of this project.
Scope of Work under Part B of of Kurnool Wind / Solar Energy Transmission System Project
Part B of the transmission system development project in solar and wind energy zones in Kurnool involves the development of 756 KV Double Circuit transmission line of 250 Km length, from Kurnool-III Pooling Station to Maheshwaram substation. Four line bays associated with this line, two at Kurnool-III Pooling station and two at Maheshwaram substation will be developed by PGCIL. Further switchable line reactors of 240 MVAr capacity at both ends of the aforementioned transmission line will also be developed under this project.
