Power Mech Wins Rs. 2,500 Cr. Order for 800 MW Thermal Power Unit in Telangana

Power Mech Projects Limited (PMPL) has secured an order from Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) for Balance of Plant (BoP) works on Stage-II of Singareni Super Thermal Power Plant (TPP), or Adilabad TPP. This contract involves expanding Singareni TPP’s generation capacity by 800 MW. PMPL will execute this order at an estimated development cost of Rs. 2,500 crore.

Singareni TPP is owned by Singareni Collieries Company Limited, which had awarded the contract for executing BoilerTurbineGenerator (BTG) and BoP works on Stage-II of the plant to BHEL on EPC basis. In turn, BHEL has awarded the BoP component of its contract to Power Mech Projects.

Scope of Work and Project Timeline

Power Mech’s scope of work at the Singareni Super Thermal Power Project includes Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) of the Coal and Biomass Handling System, Ash Handling System, Induced Draft Cooling Tower (IDCT), and Wastewater Treatment Plant. The company will also be responsible for executing associated Civil, Structural, and Electrical works.

Power Mech Projects is expected to execute this project over a period of 38 months.

Commenting on the project win, Mr. Sajja Kishore Babu, Chairman and Managing Director of Power Mech Projects Limited, said, “This project will further strengthen our robust order book and reinforce the Company’s core capabilities in Engineering, Procurement, and Construction, in line with our strategic growth vision. It also aligns with India’s broader mission to enhance power generation capacity and ensure long-term energy security through reliable base-load thermal power”. As of 30th June 2025, the company’s order book stood at Rs. 53,972 crore, with a Year-To-Date (YTD) order intake of Rs. 1,270 crore till Q2 of FY26.

Expansion of Existing Singareni Thermal Power Project

Stage-II of the aforementioned plant is being developed as an expansion of the existing 1,200 MW Singareni TPP, which is located in Mancherial District, Telangana. The existing project comprises two Thermal Power Units, each of 600 MW generation capacity, which were commissioned in 2016.

Environmental clearance for the stage-II of Singareni TPP was granted in December, 2019. Later in April 2022, the Board of Directors of Singareni Collieries approved the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the 800 MW unit. Subsequently, in February 2025, BHEL secured the construction contract for stage-II of the Singareni TPP.

Other Major Project Wins by Power Mech Projects

In addition to its latest order win, Power Mech has secured several other major Thermal Power projects in recent months. Among them is a Rs. 498.39 crore contract for the commissioning and Operation & Maintenance of the 2×660 MW Buxar Thermal Power Project in Bihar, awarded in July 2025 by SJVN Thermal Pvt. Ltd.

Furthermore, in August 2025, the company won an order worth Rs. 370.84 crore from Mahan Energen Limited (MEL) for civil works on two Thermal Power Units of 800 MW each in Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh.
