OIL Approves Rs. 6,555 Cr for Petrochemical Project at Numaligarh Refinery
Oil India Limited (OIL) in its board meeting held on 16th March 2022, approved its subsidiary, Numaligarh Refinery’s Rs. 6,555 crore investment to set up a petrochemicals project in Numaligarh, Assam. This project will include a polypropylene unit and its associated facilities.
Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG) had in October 2021, approved Rs. 28,026 crore for the expansion of Numaligarh Refinery, which is currently in progress. This will increase the refining capacity of Numaligarh Refinery from 3 MMTPA to 9 MMTPA (million metric tonnes per annum). This expansion project also includes the development of an oil import terminal at the Paradip port in Odisha, and a 1,635-km long cross country crude oil pipeline from Paradip Port to Numaligarh.
