NTPC’s Floating Solar Project in Telangana India’s Largest at 100 MW Capacity

NTPC’s Ramagundam Floating Solar PV Project in Telangana has started commercial operations at its full capacity of 100 MW as of 1st July 2022. This is India’s largest commissioned floating solar project in terms of solar power generation capacity as of now.

This project is spread over an area of 500 acre which has been divided into 40 blocks of 2.5 MW capacity each. The Ramagundam floating solar project has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 423 crore.

The commissioning of this project has been done in a piecemeal fashion. Part 1 and part 2 of the project commissioned 17.5 MW and 20 MW solar power generation capacity respectively. In March 2022, an additional 42.5 MW generation capacity was commissioned. The remaining capacity of 20 MW was commissioned on 1st July 2022.

This project can reduce yearly Coal consumption by 1,65,000 tons, and yearly Carbon dioxide emissions by about 2,10,000 tons.
