NTPC-Ceylon Electricity Board JV to Develop 135 MW Solar Plant in Sri Lanka
National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) and Ceylon Electricity Board of Sri Lanka have signed a Joint Venture agreement to construct a solar project of 135 MW capacity worth USD 114.5 million in Trincomalee, Sri Lanka.
Scope of work in the first stage of this project includes the construction of a 50 MW solar plant in Sri Lanka. Total estimated cost for the development of first stage of this project is USD 42.5 million (approximately Rs. 349.38 crore). Second stage of this project involves the development of a 85 MW solar power plant with a total investment of USD 72 million (approximately Rs. 591.75 crore). Further, first stage of this project involves the development of a 40 Km long transmission line from Sampoor to Kappalthure.
Completion period of this project is 2 years.
