Government-owned power producer, NTPC Ltd. has awarded a Green Hydrogen Energy Storage Project to NTPC Simhadri, Andhra Pradesh.
This will be India’s first Green Hydrogen based Energy Storage Project. The project will involve Hydrogen production by splitting water into Hydrogen and Oxygen using an advanced 240 KW Solid Oxide Electrolyser using input power from nearby floating solar project.
“The hydrogen thus produced during sunshine hours would be stored at high pressure and would be electrified using a 50 KW Solid Oxide Fuel Cell” as mentioned by NTPC in its press release dated 15th December 2021.
India’s first Green Hydrogen based Energy Storage Project is in line with India’s vision of becoming Carbon neutral by 2070.
