NMRC Aqua Line to Have 2nd Arm: Expressway to Botanical Garden
Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) has finalized the route of second arm of Aqua-Line that shall run between Greater Noida – Noida Expressway and Botanical Garden.
This new portion shall be connecting directly with Delhi Metro at Botanical Garden metro station.
About NMRC’s new Metro Route
The total length of the new line will be 11.5 km, branching from existing metro station of sector 142 on Expressway and shall terminate at Botanical Garden metro station. The metro line shall have 11 elevated stations namely: Botanical Garden, sector 94, sector 125, sector 126, sector 97, sector 127, sector 98, sector 93, sector 91, sector 136, and sector 142.
At Botanical Garden metro station there will be an interchange with Blue and Magenta lines. According to the Detailed Project Report (DPR), new line will be built on standard gauge with 11 elevated stations. The time line for completion is by 2023.
Need for Second Arm of Noida Metro’s existing Aqua line
The present Aqua line* (Noida – Greater Noida) does not have a direct interface with Delhi metro, it terminates at Sector 51 and passengers have to walk for a patch of 300 meter for blue line heading towards botanical garden (Connecting to Delhi).
Moreover this new line shall reduce travel time between Greater Noida and Noida Expressway sectors. Also, it shall increase the ridership due to direct link with Delhi metro.
This shall make the travel to IGI’s domestic airport easy for travelers from greater Noida and Expressway sectors as only one interchange at Botanical Gardern (Magenta Line) shall be required.
Next Move: NMRC board shall be vetting the final DPR and thereafter it shall be sent for Centre’s approval.
*At present Aqua line Noida-Greater Noida Metro Rail Corridor is 29.707 km long with 21 metro stations.
