Nidec Corp. Inaugurates its new Manufacturing Hub in Karnataka

Nidec Corporation, a Japanese manufacturer of data centre equipment, has inaugurated its manufacturing campus at Dharwad-Belur Industrial Area near Hubballi, Karnataka. As per company’s press release dated 9th June 2025, this manufacturing campus has been named as Orchard Hub. The company has developed this hub with an investment of USD 55 million (approximately Rs. 470.28 crore).

This new manufacturing hub of Nidec’s was inaugurated by Karnataka’s Minister for Large and Medium Industries, Mr. M.B. Patil.

Nidec’s Largest Manufacturing Plant in India to Serve Global and Domestic Markets

Nidec’s hub in Hubballi will manufacture electric vehicle motors, controllers, and EV chargers, along with high-efficiency motors and drives for clean mobility. The plant will also manufacture generators for data centers, wind turbine generators, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) for Renewable Energy (RE).

The newly inaugurated hub is the company’s eighth in the world and its largest manufacturing plant in India. The company has developed this plant in an area of 50 acres. This hub is expected to generate over 1,000 direct and 1,000 indirect employment opportunities in Karnataka.

The products manufactured at this plant is expected to cater to both domestic and international market.

Commenting on this development, Mr. Girish D. Kulkarni, Managing Director at Nidec Motor Corp., said “We are proud to establish our new state-of-the-art facility in Hubli, Karnataka as a testament to our long-term commitment to the Indian market. This campus is not merely a physical space — It represents the future of Nidec in India: a hub for innovation, collaboration, and excellence”.

Nidec Corp. expects to commence production at this plant later this year.

Nidec Corporation’s Manufacturing Presence in India

Nidec Corporation operates various manufacturing facilities in India, primarily in Karnataka and Rajasthan. In addition to its newly inaugurated plant in Karnataka, the company runs two facilities in Bengaluru and one in Neemrana, Rajasthan.

Out of the two facilities in Bengaluru, one focuses on the manufacturing of alternators, while the other is for software development. Meanwhile, the Neemrana facility manufactures a range of products, including automotive motors, home appliance motors, and drive motors for electric motorcycles.
