New UAV facility worth Rs. 850 crore to Come up in Telangana
Andhra Pradesh’s IT and Industries Minister has laid the foundation for a Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) facility worth INR 850 crore in Telangana. The facility will be developed at the Electronic Manufacturing Cluster in Maheshwaram. This project is collaboration between JSW Defence and the US-based company Shield AI.
The purpose of this partnership is to produce drones for national security. The project will use advanced technologies such as AI. The facility will be set up on 16 acres of land in Maheshwaram. It will manufacture up to 300 VBAT* drones every year and will also provide repair, overhaul, and testing services.
This facility is expected to support India’s drone market, which is projected to reach USD 4–4.5 billion by 2030.
